Breakfast Breakfast Breakfast..

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and it is also the most important meal of the day!

Why is it important?
There are so many reasons why you shouldn't skip breakfast but here are a quick few.
1) It kick starts your metabolism - research has proven those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with breakfast skippers.  If you skip breakfast, you're more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning. So if you think not eating breakfast helps you loose weight.. Think again.
2) It restores your glucose levels - what does this mean? Basically it helps your brain function! It can also make us happier and lower stress levels.
3) Energy - You have been asleep and unfed for probably around 8 hours and your getting up to start a new day. If you skip breakfast thats even longer your body has not had food. Food is like fuel. If you don't put fuel in a car eventually it will run out you have to keep topping it up! So if you don't eat where is your body going to get energy from? If you don't have energy you are not going to feel your best, perform your best and lets be honest why would you want that?

Ok so that all being said basically EAT BREAKFAST. I recently have given myself larger portions in the morning and I have found I haven't been snacking between breakfast and lunch. I also have noticed I am not hungry till around 1 or 2, whereas before I would be watching the clock waiting for it to be 12 so I could eat lunch.

Here are 2 of my favourite Gluten Free and Vegan healthy breakfast ideas which I love to eat.

Porridge (Oatmeal for you Americans!)

Im starting with my favourite. I LOVE porridge like its weird how much I love it. Porridge is amazing as its healthy and it really fills you up and releases energy slowly, therefore you are satisfied for longer.

I like to use the Trader Joes gluten free, wheat free rolled oats and here is what I do..

1) Take 1/2 cup of rolled oats and place in a microwavable bowl (big enough so the oats can expand).
2) Add 1 cup of water (or choice of milk but I always use water)
3) Add 1 teaspoon of Chia Seeds (Superfood, so good for you and doesn't really taste of anything) and stir.
4) Microwave for 2 minutes on a high setting
5) Take out and Stir
6) Microwave for an additional 30 seconds and keep doing this in intervals until you are happy with the consistency.
7) Add any topping you like, I always go for fruit. I always have blueberries (Antioxidant) and then what ever else I have recently I have been loving Bananas, Strawberries and pineapple.

You can add a sweetener its up to you but I like to keep mine plain.

This is so easy its crazy! It also tastes so good!

1) Take one cup of the same Trader Joes Rolled oats and place into a blender. Blend until a flour consistency.
2) Add one cup of Almond milk (Or your preferred milk) and 1 Banana and blend blend blend.

Thats it mixture is done!

Now get your frying pan out and make pancakes! Remember to oil your pan!

For toppings you can add what you like. I find them pretty sweet already from the banana but something I tried recently and loved was, I added some greek style yogurt on top. I used the So Delicious Coconut yogurt in the Blueberry flavour but you can use whatever yogurt you like. I also added some blueberries and other fruit.

When it comes to toppings you know what you like and just experiment with it!

I am going to end this post here as it is getting pretty long! I have many more breakfast recipes which I may post some time in the near future! So make sure you are following me on Bloglovin!

Give these recipes a try!
